We had a pretty great year for Star Wars in 2021, with High Republic books, War of the Bounty Hunters comics, The Bad Batch and Star Wars Visions. It's looking like 2022, though, is going to be even better. We kicked off the end of the year with The Book of Boba Fett, which will air through early February, but what else do we have to anticipate this year?
Comics
Comics have been a consistent part of Star Wars every year for a while now, and we have plenty to look forward to this year. From the Crimson Reign series, continuation of series like Doctor Aphra or Star Wars 2020, and new High Republic comics, comics fans are certainly in for a treat this year. Maybe this is the year I finally catch up on them too.
Novels
As a big fan of Star Wars novels, I've got a lot to look forward to this year too. From the delayed Queen's Hope novel, a new wave of High Republic books, Brotherhood, Padawan, Tales of Jedi and Sith- there's a lot for me to read and enjoy this year, and I'm very excited for it all.
Celebration Anaheim
Rescheduled a couple of times now, we can hopefully look forward to Celebration Anaheim going forward in May of this year. Though we're all looking at COVID-19 news to see how things actually goes down, we hopefully will all get to attend and see each other again, along with the no doubt countless news and reveals we'll get that weekend.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
The highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series finally comes out this year! We're all thrilled to see the return of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, as well as to see what Obi-Wan gets up to. We don't know when in the year to look for this series, but we know we can look forward to it this year at least.
The Mandalorian Season 3
After the stunning finale of season 2, we're all on the edge of our seats to find out what Din has gotten up to- he has the Darksaber, a tenuous relationship with Bo-Katan, and the loss of Grogu, who he handed over to Luke. We'll get the answer to some of those questions this year. We don't know exactly when yet, but we can expect it in spring this year instead of The Mandalorian's usual autumn airing. Makes you wonder if another series is taking the fall 2022 slot...
The Bad Batch Season 2
The Bad Batch was an exciting feature of my summer weeks, and we can expect season 2 to come this year and follow the emotional ending of the first season. I'm excited for the returns of our beloved characters, as well as to see what cameos we find this season after having so many last season- or if any of those cameos may return to follow up on those story arcs.
Andor
I think we all fell in love with Cassian when he graced screens in Rogue One back in 2016, and now, nearly six years later, we finally get to see him in his own show, presumably along with K-2SO, the droid that captured all of our hearts. I'm excited to see what they get up to, and how this builds on our knowledge of the rebellion- and even how it may change our perspective on it.
LEGO Skywalker Saga
The LEGO Skywalker Saga, which will be a LEGO game that covers the entire 9-movie Skywalker Saga, has been delayed many, many times now. Hopefully, we can finally get to play it when it releases in spring of 2022, though we don't have an exact date to look forward to quite yet. Either way, I'm still excited for this game and hope that all of the delays have just been to make it even better so it really delivers, because the old LEGO Star Wars Complete Saga game was a big part of my childhood, and I'd love to play an updated version with 3 more movies that I love.
Star Wars Hunters
This is a game I didn't think I'd be especially hyped about, but after the reveals of the different characters and taking a look at the gameplay, I got very excited, as it seems like an Overwatch-style game (and I LOVE Overwatch). It seems like a game I'll really enjoy with a cast of characters that I already think are cool, and it will be free to play on Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android devices sometime this year. While we wait for this game, you can pre-register for it online to get some rewards when it does come out.
