How to Get Ready for Maul: Shadow Lord

We're only a few weeks away from the release of Maul: Shadow Lord on Monday, April 6th, which means its time to prepare! Here are just a couple of ideas on how you can get ready for the impending release!

Movies and television are not the only places that you'll find Darth Maul, he's starred in many a comic book as well. There have been many that expand on Maul's story throughout his life- for example, if you want to learn more about Maul's pre-The Phantom Menace story, you might want to go to comics like the 4-issue Darth Maul - Black, White & Red or the 5-issue Darth Maul (2017). If you want to go even shorter, he has a one-shot comic from the Age of Republic line.

But there are some comics I think may be particularly relevant to the story of Maul: Shadow Lord. Darth Maul - Son of Dathomir is a 4-issue comic an adaptation of some The Clone Wars episodes that were never completed, detailing some of Maul's time as a crime lord and Mandalorian leader. If Rook Kast caught your eye in the Siege of Mandalore episodes of The Clone Wars and in the trailer for Maul: Shadow Lord, these are definitely worth picking up. And of course, we have the brand new comic line Shadow of Maul, being released specifically as a prequel to the show itself and featuring some of the supporting cast of the show. Only the first issue of Shadow of Maul has been released so it will be easy to catch up, with the second issue releasing on April 8th.

If you're feeling the itch to literally gear up for Maul: Shadow Lord, there are plenty of options available to you! Websites like BoxLunch and Hot Topic and have released some pretty robust new Maul collections, and Her Universe of course always has something for every character. If you want to go a bit more indie, fan creators like AFanOf have some fun, cute new Maul merch for you to enjoy! And of course you can always DIY it- like following the craft instructions for this adorable Maul bookmark (maybe for all of those comics you'll be reading)!

Watch The Phantom Menace & The Clone Wars

There is no better time to refresh your memory on Maul's story! And of course, you can always throw in a rewatch of The Phantom Menace as a reminder of where it all started.
